As I was sitting in church the other day, it occurred to me to wonder why I might become a jew. After all, Jesus was Jewish, and that seemed to work out pretty well for him. For that matter, all the apostles were Jewish, and 2,000 years later we can name them and even know what their professions were (before they quit and started becoming apostles). On the other hand, the whole circumcision thing–which I’m pretty sure is a requirement of Jewishness–is a sensitive issue (nyuk, nyuk). And I’d have to decide what kind of Jew I’d be: Orthodox, Reform, Traditional. Heck, I didn’t even know what the choices were. It would also kind of wreck my Saturdays, since that would be my new Sunday, except that I couldn’t even stay out late Friday night, because my Sunday would start on Friday night. Whew! Sounds like becoming a Jew would be too confusing for me!
